इंटरनेट को पहली बार 1969 में संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के रक्षा विभाग द्वारा एक प्रयोग के रूप में शुरू किया गया
था।

Definition of Internet Computer - Internet Computer की परिभाषा 

"इंटरनेट" एक ग्लोबल नेटवर्क है जो दुनियाभर के कम्प्यूटर्स को आपस में जोड़े हुए है| इसी के
माध्यम से व्यक्ति दुनिया में किसी एक कोने से बैठकर दुनिया के किसी दूसरे कोने तक आसानी 
 से सूचना भेज सकता है कर सूचना प्राप्त कर सकता है|

इन्टरनेट एक दुसरे से जुड़े कई कंप्यूटरों का जाल है जो राउटर एवं सर्वर के माध्यम से दुनिया के किसी भी कंप्यूटर को आपस में जोड़ता है. दुसरे शब्दों में कहे तो सूचनाओ के आदान प्रदान करने के लिए TCP/IP Protocol के माध्यम से दो कंप्यूटरों के बीच स्थापित सम्बन्ध को internet कहते हैं |

इंटरनेट का उपयोग इसके लिए बनाये गये विभिन्न ब्राउज़र्स द्वारा किया जा सकता हैं, जैसे -: विंडोज एक्सप्लोलर, गूगल क्रोम, मोज़िला फायरफॉक्स, आदि. जो संस्था उपभोक्ताओं को इंटरनेट की सुविधा उपलब्ध कराती हैं, उसे इंटरनेट सर्विसेज प्रोवाइडर्स [ISP] कहते हैं |
